Many of us have set out on an adventurous journey to some far away place of extraordinary beauty with young children in tow. And, if this has been you, you probably have vivid memories of the kids in the back seat asking for the hundredth time, “Are we there yet?” And then the moment finally arrives when you triumphantly announce, “Yes, we are here. We have arrived at our destination!” And suddenly, the grandiose beauty takes over. Perhaps it’s the view of the Grand Canyon or of Yellowstone National Park or of the Emerald Coast beaches in Florida that you and the kids suddenly get to experience. And when you do, there is an awe inspiring silence that takes over. And everyone expresses a collective “wow, this is really cool!”

It’s February! The month to celebrate romance. The month to tell your spouse how much you love and appreciate them. The month to give your boyfriend or girlfriend a special gift. What a great month to celebrate romance, love, and God’s gift of sexual fulfillment in marriage.

Sadly, however, there is a dark side to romantic love in our day and culture. There is a distortion of God’s glorious gift of romantic love in marriage. There is a sinful scourge that is attacking our marriages and our families. It’s the scourge of pornography.

Dearest Calvary Family,

Let me first wish you a Happy New Year! May 2021 be a special year for each of us individually and for us as a church family.

As we begin this new year, it is appropriate that we bathe the year in prayer. With this goal, I want to invite you to join us for Calvary’s New Year’s prayer campaign called “31 Days of Prayer.” Here is how it will work:

Each day throughout January, you will be emailed a specific prayer guide.

We ask that each Calvary member commit to praying through the guide on a daily basis.
