May I Please Be Excused? (Exodus 3 & 4)
Ever since the beginning of time, human beings have been making excuses.
For example, see Adam and Eve’s response to God after committing the very first sin (Genesis 3:12-13). Moses certainly continued Adam and Eve’s tradition of excuse making when God asked him to be the leader of the Exodus. This sermon explores each of Moses’ five excuses along with God’s answer to each excuse. In the end, Moses finally obeys and begins the journey of a lifetime. This sermon will help us to learn from Moses’ bad example. It will challenge us to stop resisting God when he calls us to an important task. Furthermore, it will encourage us to stop making excuses and to start trusting God.
