The Golden Calf (Exodus 32)
The story of Exodus chapter 32 is an ironic interlude within the broader narrative of Exodus.
It describes an unexpected and very disappointing chain of events. In short, the Israelites become a faithless and rebellious people who immediately break their covenant promise to God in dramatic fashion. How can they so easily forget all that God has done for them? How can their faith be so weak, shallow, and fickle? How can they so quickly abandon their promises to God? And what can we learn from their disastrous mistake? So, let’s humbly tune into this sad story in order to learn what not to do and who not to be.
