The 1st Commandment: God and God Alone (Exodus 20:1-3)
As we examine at each of the 10 Commandments, we are reminded that this section of scripture is unique in that it comes directly from the voice of God.
He is to be viewed as a God of love and as a God who is to be reverently feared. The first commandment is “you shall have no other gods before me.” In other words, since God is the one and only true God, we must love him first and most. We cannot ever allow anything, or anyone take God’s rightful place in our lives. Ultimately, this sermon asks, “is God truly your first love?” Your answer to this foundational question will determine much about your spiritual health and well-being.
