Jesus in Revelation

As we read the Gospels, we quickly fall in love with Jesus. But, as we turn the pages of our bibles from the first books in our New Testament (i.e., the Gospels) to the last book in our New Testament, the book of Revelation, we meet a very different Jesus.
As we read the Gospels, we quickly fall in love with Jesus. We love that Jesus is meek and mild, calm and gentle, kind and caring, and loving and compassionate. We love the Jesus who heals people from their sins and sicknesses. We love the Jesus who loves the unloved and the outcasts. We love the Jesus who loves on little children and would gladly hold your baby if invited. We love the storytelling Jesus who mesmerizes us with his kingdom stories. We love the Jesus that is our friend. We love the Jesus that we can wrap our arms around and give a great big hug. But, as we turn the pages of our bibles from the first books in our New Testament (i.e., the Gospels) to the last book in our New Testament, the book of Revelation, we meet a very different Jesus. This Jesus is fierce, powerful, and overwhelming in his glory. This Jesus is a warrior and a conqueror. This Jesus is a just and righteous judge who will hold all beings accountable, both heavenly and earthly. You cannot approach this Jesus and wrap your arms around him and give him a great big hug because when you see him you will fall on your face trembling in fear. Most of us will pass out cold when we see this Jesus. The Jesus portrayed in Revelation 1 is the Jesus we may not know. So, why not tune into this sermon and get to know him?
