Calvary Family,
I love what Paul says to Timothy in 2 Timothy 1:5, “I am reminded of your sincere faith, which first lived in your grandmother Lois and in your mother Eunice and, I am persuaded, now lives in you also.”
I, like many of you, was blessed to have both a godly mother and godly grandmothers who intentionally poured themselves into my spiritual faith and development. And now, one of the greatest privileges and ministry opportunities that God has given to me and Mona is to follow in their footsteps with our own children and grandchildren. This fall, starting in October, we will have two discipleship equipping events at Calvary that will help us to become better disciple-makers with our children and grandchildren.
The first event will be our annual Family Discipleship Conference on Saturday, October 28. This is a half day conference for the entire Calvary family to go deeper in our relationships with each other and to be better equipped to make disciples within our own families and within our church family. This year, we are very blessed to have two gifted ministers from Downline Little Rock coming to lead us, Danny Hinton and Kord Offenbacker. These are two men of God who know much about practical family discipleship. You will be blessed by their ministry among us.
Additionally, Calvary will be hosting our very own Legacy Grandparenting Summit on November 11. This is a conference designed to help grandparents have a greater impact on their families. The conference will inspire those of us who are grandparents to be more intentional in making a spiritual impact on our grandchildren. If you are a grandparent, this will be a life transforming event.
I’m looking forward to meeting Timothy in heaven because he was such an influential leader in the early church. But even more so, I am looking forward to meeting the two people who played such a huge role in making Timothy into the man of God that he was – his mother, Eunice, and his grandmother, Lois. As your pastor, I am very excited about the discipleship equipping opportunities for us all this fall at Calvary. Discipleship equipping that will turn us into people like Eunice and Lois.
