Wow! Summer is here! I cannot believe it, nor can my wife who is an elementary school teacher. Rich blessings and prayers for rest and relaxation for all our school teachers. Thank you for your invaluable service to our community.
As for Calvary, summer represents a shift in the regular schedule. Our children and youth will take a break from their normal Wednesday evening discipleship time. Instead, there will be camps, outings, and fellowships with big time fun for friends to celebrate “life in Christ” together.
Also, don’t forget, this summer Calvary will have an opportunity to engage with all four spheres of our mission vision. Acts 1:8 tells us “You will receive power when the Holy Spirit comes on you; and you will be my witnesses in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the ends of the earth.”
Our “Jerusalem” is Little Rock (i.e., local missions).
Our “Judea” is Arkansas (i.e., regional missions).
Our “Samaria” is the United States (i.e., national missions).
Our “ends of the earth” is the world (i.e., global missions).
Vacation Bible School is one of our greatest local mission opportunities of the year. Together for Hope Helena is a wonderful mission partnership in our state and region. New City Church, part of Calvary’s national missions, in Austin, Texas, is excited for our team to join them in preparing for their public launch in September. Zona Zegura in Peru is excited about our medical team coming to help them share the gospel and meet needs within their local community. It represents one of our more recent global mission partnerships.
Please join me in praying that our church will be faithful and fruitful as we serve our king and his kingdom during the summer of 2024.
