July 2024
July is here and thus “Missions Month” at Calvary is here! So, exactly what is “Missions Month” at Calvary? Well, to begin, let’s start with defining missions. At our church, missions is defined as doing ministry to impact those who are not yet part of the family of God. So how are our upcoming mission projects going to impact lost people?
There are four ways:
1) We have a medical missions team now in Peru hosting medical clinics. They will be serving patients from Peruvian villages who have had very little access to medical care during their lifetimes. While waiting for their care, our Peruvian ministry partner, Zona Segura, will be developing relationships with them in hopes of engaging each person in a Gospel conversation. Our team will open many doors for continued relationships and ministry in the future.
2) Soon, we will have another missions team headed to Austin, Texas to assist Ryan and Callie Perkins and their church plant New City Church Austin. Our team will be providing prayer and outreach support as this church is preparing for its public launch in September. Again, the goal is to provide prayer support and to build relationships with both believers and unbelievers who will be invited to attend the church. The church is committed to discipleship which will include relational evangelism.
3) Also, soon we will have a missions team headed to Helena, Arkansas for our partnership with Together for Hope with Cooperative Baptist Fellowship. Our team will be assisting with their traditional Swim Camp for kids which includes a VBS type experience where the Gospel is communicated each day. Also, we will participate in a number of construction projects serving the community of Helena/West Helena in the name of Jesus.
4) Finally, towards the end of the month, Calvary will host our annual Vacation Bible School. This is an opportunity for our church to both disciple and serve our children along with children from our collective neighborhoods. The Vacation Bible School curriculum along with our excellent team of teachers and leaders will provide great opportunities to communicate the Gospel with our children and guests throughout the week.
So, what’s our part? We must be willing to pray, serve, and support. If the Calvary family will faithfully commit to praying for, serving with, or supporting one or more of these mission projects, we will see the Kingdom of God expand before our very eyes. Join me in praying that we will get to see the eyes of the lost opened to spiritual truth about Christ. To God be the glory, for the great things he is about to do!
