May 2025
As I’m writing this article, it is the last day of April 2025. What a month it was. At Calvary, we enjoyed a special Spring Fest event with our church family on Palm Sunday. Thanks to Julie Nelson and her amazing team for planning a fun-filled family day for us all.
The food was great, the games and activities brought lots of smiles to the little ones, the ice cream brought lots of smiles to the bigger and little ones, and the Easter Bunny stole the show (or I should say bunnies). Thanks to all who served and participated in this important annual family event.
Also, a special shout out to the Calvary staff who put together our first Passover Meal worship service on Maundy Thursday of Passion Week. We had a special night celebrating the Lord’s Supper together with the Passover Meal symbolism helping us connect the dots in the biblical story. A special thanks to Mama Shirley Forrest and Tina Hall for making this event a success. Due to numerous positive reviews, we expect to do this again in the future.
Furthermore, thank you to our worship leaders and to our talented preaching team for a great Easter Sunday. A special thanks to Garrett Lenzen and Hayden Walker for stepping up to the plate and delivering excellent sermonettes on the Resurrection. And as always, the worship music brought a little of heaven down to us on earth. It truly was a great day for the Calvary family.
So, now it’s onward and upward as we move into May 2025. This month, I’m looking forward to recognizing our graduates on the first Sunday of the month and to celebrating our mothers on the second Sunday of the month. Also, soon we will be wrapping up our midweek discipleship studies for the children, students, and adults. Thanks again to our amazing leaders, teachers, and chefs for making Wednesday’s a great time of fellowship, friendship, and spiritual growth.
And finally, please be in prayer for our mission team headed to Peru on May 11-19. The team will consist of: Dan Berry, Reese Hargrove, Rudy Jolley, Nikki Neal, and Jordan and Heath Norton. Our missionaries will be working with orphanage children, speaking at public schools, serving in house churches, assisting single mothers, teaching young adults, and sharing the Gospel with any and all. It will be quite the week in what I call a hybrid mission trip. Pray for a spiritually fruitful, relationally rich, and physically safe trip for all.
May God continue to richly bless the Calvary family in May of 2025.
Scott
