February 2025
Starting in February, I will be preaching a new sermon series on the book of Revelation. Revelation is one of the more controversial and strange books in our bibles, but it is also one of the more important books as it is God’s concluding chapter to his grand narrative, the story of the bible. It is also a literary masterpiece inspired and revealed by God himself.
After much thought and internal debate, I have decided to study the entire book of Revelation passage by passage. This will ensure that we are not overlooking any important elements and will have the opportunity to better understand the book within its literary and historical contexts. Along the way, I don’t expect to solve all of the apocalyptic riddles, but I do expect that we will better understand the big, grand themes of Revelation.
One thing we will experience is seeing the curtain of heaven pulled back and getting a glimpse of heavenly worship. We will join the angels around God’s throne and praise our glorious God and his victorious son Jesus, the lamb who was slain. We will learn much about worship and perseverance. We will learn the fate of our arch enemy, Satan. We will learn about our wonderful future as God’s children in the new heaven and the new earth. In short, we will learn much about our God, our enemies, ourselves, our mission, and our hope.
So, I trust that you will join me in investing personal time, study, and thought into Revelation. By doing so, we will all be reminded that in the end God wins. And when he wins, you and I who are on his side, will win too. Rich blessings in Christ!
Scott
