As we move from Resurrection Sunday into the month of April, it feels as if the whole earth has been resurrected. April is the month when in Arkansas, it feels as if spring has truly sprung. Our mountains, lakes, and rivers once again become alive with flowers, leaves, birds, wildlife, and beautiful sunny days among many other things. In a sense, it feels as if nature has become alive anew!
Spiritually, the resurrection results in the same thing within our hearts and souls. Because Jesus is alive, his entire gospel message is completely authenticated. We know that everything he said and did is true. Therefore, we now get to live each day in the brilliant glory of the Lord, even though we still live in a fallen, broken world. Because Jesus is alive, we know that his promises are good. Because Jesus is alive, we know that his presence is with us. Because Jesus is alive, we know that he is constantly for us. Because Jesus is alive, we have a heavenly purpose to accomplish. As a result, we are filled with his life, hope, provision, power, and purpose.
So, this year, as we move from Easter into April, we must live out the message. We must live it out in our marriages. We must live it out in our parenting and grandparenting. We must live it out in our jobs. We must live it out in our schools. We must live it out in our relationships with a lost world. And, we must live it out in our church. We must sing his song with all our hearts. “Awake my soul and sing. Sing his praise aloud. Sing his praise aloud (Awake My Soul and Sing by Hillsong).” Every day this April, Lord Jesus, awaken our souls and enliven our hearts. Help us sing of your glory. Amen.
