June 2022
For me, June has always been a month of joyous celebration and fun. During my childhood, June was about summer break from school, longer days to play, and baseball. Invariably, all three of these realities merged into baseball. I agree with Yogi Berra who said, “Love is the most important thing in the world, but baseball is pretty good, too.” He also said, “Little League baseball is a very good thing because it keeps the parents off the streets.”
So, speaking of baseball, Calvary has recently hit several homeruns with our new ministry staff members. Jordan Norton is an All-Star in the making who will bring to Calvary her contagious passion for worship and discipleship. Thank you Jordan and husband Josh, and your family for choosing Calvary. Also, we will soon have the opportunity to meet another young ministry star named Garrett Lenzen. Garrett will bring his pastoral heart and love for students and young adults to our church. Additionally, he will bring his wife Anna, who was by far the strongest part of his resume ☺. Thank you Garrett and Anna for wanting to join the Calvary family and embrace our discipleship vision and mission. Also, thank you to our two search committees who were not afraid to “swing for the fences” in our behalf.
So, as we start the summer of 2022, we have new leaders, new excitement, and new opportunities for growth. I think we can agree with Maud Hart Lovelace who said, “It was June, and the world smelled of roses. The sunshine was like powdered gold over the grassy hillside.”
