It is hard to believe, but August is here. Soon, the summer fun will end and school will begin. It is most definitely true that time flies when you are having fun, and we have enjoyed lots of fun this summer at Calvary.
So, what’s next for the Calvary family? As school begins, we will have our own promotion Sunday. This is the day when we celebrate our children and they get to “move up” to their next grade level of Sunday School. Promotion Sunday at Calvary will be Sunday morning August 18th.
Also, on Sunday evening August 18th, we will have our final summer church-wide fellowship called “Coffee with James.” During this event, we will enjoy worshiping together and then Ryan and I will attempt to answer questions from the church family about the book of James. It should be a great time of theological dialogue followed by a great time of fellowship as we enjoy some delicious desserts together. Coffee with James will take place in the Hangar,
As we finish the book of James at the end of August, we will look forward to applying his discipleship principles. As you know, James is about doing the word, not just listening to the word. As we put these biblical principles into action, we will continue to look at what scripture teaches about surrendering all of life to the empowering presence and lordship of Jesus. As we move into the fall, we will complete our sermon series and small group study on the Discipleship Essentials. Our end goal is to create a relational discipleship culture at Calvary that develops into a contagious kind of Christianity. We want to live on mission to be disciples who make disciples.
May God bless us all as we passionately pursue him!
